Tryout schedule for the Lady Islanders 10U team has been posted.

Monday March 17th  5:30 to 6:45pm @  Dix Hills Ice Rink
(in conjunction with the Rebels Mites).  This team will be coached by Dennis McGovern.

The Lady Islanders are looking to change the way young girl players are developed.  This year we are adopting the USA Hockey ADM model for our 10U developmental team.  The 10U girls will not only follow the ADM but will be integrated into the Boys mite developmental program which will allow them to be on par with boys their age.  In addition, they will be registered as a 10U girls team allowing them to play full ice games where they will learn game strategies.

Tryout fee is $25      Application can be downloaded here and mailed to:

Lady Islanders Hockey
PO Box 1041
Huntington NY 11743

Thats right, the Lady Islanders now have their own app.

Apple has approved and released the "Lady Islanders Hockey" app today.   It can be found in the App Store under Lady Islanders Hockey (be sure to use the capitals on each word).  The Android version will be released later this week.

The app can be used to keep you up to date with news, rosters, games, scores and practices.  When an update is completed in the app. it will notify all members of the team or organization.

We will not be utilizing the app until next season so I will not be updating the rosters until then.

The 12U clinched a spot at the New York State Championships today.   Additional information to follow……….

The 12U Lady Isles headed up to Brewster this morning leading the NYSAHA Championship playdown series with 2 points by virtue of an opening game 2-1 win at Dix Hills.  A win or a tie with the powerhouse 12U Lady Bulldogs would secure the girls a spot in the State Chamiponships representing the Eastern Zone.  Coach John and the team knew this would not be an easy task, especially on Brewsters home ice.

The game opened up with the Islanders dominating play in the Lady Bulldog end but at the 9 minute mark a lucky Bulldog bounce of the puck turned into an odd man rush and Brewster banged home a rebound off of a great first save by the LI netminder, Olivia DeGuire. The game remained at 1-0 Bulldogs until the the mid point of the second period when a Lady Islander flurry in front of the Bulldog net wound up in a goal by Sam Deiches.

The Girls would carry the 1-1 tie into the third but half way through the Lady Bulldogs intercepted a clearing pass and rifled in a shot past DeGuire to go ahead 2-1.  Thoughts turned to a mini game as the clock ticked off precious seconds of the game.  It wasn't until the 5 minute mark when Callie McLaughlin rushed the puck from her own red line and made a dash to the Brewster net.  As the Brewster defense collasped on her expecting a shot, Callie made a quick move behind the net, wrapped around and found Sam Deiches wide open in front.  Sam one timed it for her second goal of the game and what would be the final tally of the day as the Lady Islanders held on to a 2-2 tie clinching the playdown series points 3-1 and gaining a spot in the states!!!!

The 19U team secured a trip to the NY State Championships this Saturday by taking the second game of the two game play downs with Weschester 1-0.  The win put them 2-0 against the Wild in that playdown series, earning them a seed in the NY Championships in March.  The Girls will complete the playdown against Brewster next weekend in what amounts to an Esat Zone seeding game.  Congratulations to our 19U's and good luck in the states!

The 12U team will also wrap up the playdowns next weekend when they head up to Brewster for the second game of that series.  The 12U's took the opener at Dix Hills last weekend 2-1 and can secure a state trip by virtue of a win or a tie next weekend.
