The 2017-18 EJEPL Playoffs were held in Attleboro MA at the New England Sports Village.  The Lady Islanders, Hanover Wild and NE Pioneers participated over the weekend to battle for the Championship.  The best of 2 series Championship saw great hockey between the Hanover Wild and Lady Islanders 12U.  After each team won a game, there was a 15 minute mini game to decide the winner.  The Lady Islanders lost 0-1 to Hanover but played some of their best hockey against a tough opponent.  The team should be very proud of their efforts playing 4 regulation games and a mini game.

The EJEPL also announced their All-Star selections from each of the teams in the league.  The Lady Islander 12 U will send 5 players to the All-Star 12U team which will play in the Minnesota Meltdown in April.  Congratulations and good luck to Paige Wallace, Chloe Obser, Tara Seewaldt, Norah Morris and Eleanor Rogers!

The Lady Islanders travelled to Buffalo to face strong Tier 1 teams.  The first game the  team won against the Washington Wild was a good effort from all the players.  Playing against the tough Glenview Stars showed the team the strength of their division.  The 2-1 win over the Stars in a fast physical game was a good warm-up for the Syracuse Nationals on Saturdaymorning.

The team and families enjoyed a delicious dinner together Friday night - much needed before the games ahead.  The Nationals beat the Lady Islanders 1-0 leaving the team in 2nd going into the round robin playoffs.  Having Saturday afternoon off allowed the players to relax and support the Lady Islanders 14U at their game.

On Sunday morning the Lady Islanders played a nail biter against the Buffalo Bisons.  Down 0-2 early in the game, the team clawed their way back to a 3-3 tie.  After the overtime 3 on 3 which also ended in a tie, the team responded with a shootout win.  A short break allowed the team to fuel up and focus for the finals against the Syracuse Nationals.  Coming out with a quick tempo and strong physical play pushed the Lady Islanders to a 1-0 win.  Congratulations to the team on a great win in Buffalo.

The Lady Islander's teams have been preparing for the season opener since early  May.

Practice schedule went from once a week to twice a week in the beginning of August. In addition to the practices,an amazing off ice conditioning regiment every week at the Sports Hub in Syosset has really put the girls in amazing condition.  The four months of on and off ice has already shown very positive results.

This past weekend demonstrated what the program has produced.

To start, the 12u squad captured the championship at the high level Cape Cod Storm Tournament!

After dropping the first game of the round robin to the host team, Storm, 2-0, the  team regrouped, worked on a few things between games, and came out strong winning the next two games placing them in the Finals again facing the undefeated Storm.

The final game did not start well for the girls, going down in the opening minutes 2-0, but the team battled back, and in the later part of the game their off ice and summer training proved to be the deciding factor as they took home the crown in a 4-3 come from behind win.

In the same tournament, the 14u girls demonstrated why the requests to play them from top T1 programs keep coming in.

Unlike the 12u team playing their first games, the 14u girls had an amazing run in the top bracket at the prestigious Bean Town tourney in July, placing in the top ten at that showcase and sparking tremendous interest from recruiters, resulting in invitations to many girls on the squad.

They opened the Cape Cod show by downing the last year champion Storm 5-1.  They then defeated a strong Baystate squad 4-1 and put an exclamation point on the round robin set by overpowering the New England Pride 10-0.

The Final game pitted them against Baystate, and in a very fast paced end to end match, found them on the short side of a 1-0 score.

The 16u girls opened their season in an EJEPL game vs the New Jersey Wildcats in a live broadcast from Dix Hills (replay of game available on home page of website),
and once again the girls put on a show taking the game 7-2.

The 16u team is now preparing for their invite weekend at Harvard, where they will be playing in front of several college coaches. While the 12u squad will begin their play in both the EJEPL and for the first time ever the LIAHL PW A division vs all boys teams, 14u has a packed schedule playing EJ and top T1.

Our 10u girls are also playing in the LIAHL Squirt A division and showed this weekend that they will be competitive at that level!

The Lady Islanders organization is very proud of all our teams and is committed to grow girls hockey on the Island.  We invite any one interested in joining to check out the web and schedules, we have a few openings at the T 1 and T 2 level.

The 12U Lady Islanders were undefeated in the President's Day Classic hosted by the Lady Patriots in Warwick, PA last weekend. After winning four games, coaches Analiese and Joey along with the 12U team brought home the first place trophy to proudly display at Dix hills Rink.  Game one verse NOVA resulted in a 10-0 blowout victory with goals contributed by many teammates. Norah put the first puck in the net followed with goals by Georgia, Tara, Danielle, Alyssa and Jordan.

Games two and three verse the NJ Colonials and the Carolina Jr Hurricanes both ended in wins with an additional eight goals. Olivia F. was added to the list of goalscorers.
The championship game provided end to end action. The lady islanders came up big by scoring late in the third period to defeat the Carolina Jr Hurricanes 2-1.  A true team effort led the 12U Lady Islanders to win the President's Day Classic. Highlights included multiple goals and multiple hat-tricks for some and shutouts for both goalies Olivia D and Kayla. Goalies denied all but one of their opponents' shots on net over the entire weekend. Congrats 12U Lady Islanders!
