Congrats to the 10u team! 2018 Rhode Island Sting Columbus Day Invitational Champions

The 10u girls went undefeated (4-0) and took down the Shoreline Sharks 5-1 in the championship game.

The 14u T1 team also had a successful weekend, going (1-0-2) in the round robin, giving up only 2 goals in 3 games, and finishing at the top of their bracket. The 14u girls played a hard fought semifinal game, coming up just short by a score of 1-0.

Congrats to both the 10u and 14u teams on a great effort this past weekend.

On Saturday, September 1st and Sunday, September 2nd at the Dix Hills Rink, three players from the Lady Islanders Tier 2, 12U team participated in the 24 hour Hockey Helps Marathon fundraiser. Becca Hochman, Skyla Peltzman, Sarah Smyth. The event helped raise over $850,000. Click on this link to read the article https://www.nhl.com/news/hockey-helps-marathon-surpasses-850000-goal/c-299924002

Here is a quote from the article about one of our players, Skyla Peltzman.

The women's game has also evolved to where they had two full teams compared to five years ago, when they had four women playing with men. One participant this year was 11-year-old Skyla Peltzman from Melville, New York, whose hat trick was among the highlights of her experience.

"It was very cool," Peltzman said. "It was amazing to have real pro players play on the ice with me. Graves was trying to make me lose."

EJEPL All-Stars are victorious in MN

Minneapolis, MN...April 19-22.   The 23rd annual Minnesota Meltdown is Minnesota's best AAA hockey tournament of the year with over 18 age levels and the strongest field of teams to date.

The Lady Islanders selected 5 players to represent the EJEPL women's league at the U14 level. Gia Santorello, Tara Henshaw, Rachel Lohan, Zoe Galanoudis and Danielle Stein played alongside top players selected from the Quakers, So CT Stars, Greenwich Wings, Hanover Wild, NOVA and Maine Gladiators. Together they competed as one All-star team, coached by Mike Hansen and Pete Galanoudis, that went undefeated with 5 wins including 4 shutouts and won the 2018 Minnesota Meltdown.

Coach Pete said, "What an amazing experience for players, parents, and coaches this past weekend.  I am sure I speak for everyone in saying that the 3-2 Shootout win in the Semi-Finals will be a hockey game etched in many of our minds for a very long time.  What a game that was to bring us to the finals and go on to win the Championship! This was truly a special team of gifted players that defined unselfish play and pure teamwork."

Christian Hubert, EJEPL Director of Women's Hockey noted, "The EJ League would like to congratulate all of you on an amazing victory this past weekend in Minnesota.  Bringing girls from different teams together with all different styles of play to form a new team to attempt to win a championship, very hard. I have to say we are so very proud of how this team came together with only one practice and accomplished a very difficult task of winning the Minnesota Meltdown."

The EJEPL now has two women's U14 All-Star team championships in the record books!

Coach Pete, Tara Henshaw, Danielle Stein, Zoe Galanoudis, Gia Santorello & Rachel Lohan.

Second year players Jeannie Wallner, Georgia Franco, Shoshanna Lebo, Tara Henshaw and Danielle Stein went 29-0-3 in 2 years in the EJEPLas 14U players.  The team is currently 35-9-6 and ranked 39th I Tier 1.

The 2017-18 EJEPL Playoffs were held in Attleboro MA at the New England Sports Village.  The Lady Islanders, Hanover Wild and NE Pioneers participated over the weekend to battle for the Championship.  The best of 2 series Championship saw great hockey between the Hanover Wild and Lady Islanders 12U.  After each team won a game, there was a 15 minute mini game to decide the winner.  The Lady Islanders lost 0-1 to Hanover but played some of their best hockey against a tough opponent.  The team should be very proud of their efforts playing 4 regulation games and a mini game.

The EJEPL also announced their All-Star selections from each of the teams in the league.  The Lady Islander 12 U will send 5 players to the All-Star 12U team which will play in the Minnesota Meltdown in April.  Congratulations and good luck to Paige Wallace, Chloe Obser, Tara Seewaldt, Norah Morris and Eleanor Rogers!
