The EJEPL weekend for the 12U division saw four teams come together in Colmar PA and Aston PA to play in the EJEPL 12U Division playoffs.  The Lady Islanders 12U Tier 1 team came in to the playoffs ranked 1st in the EJEPL 12U Division in the regular season with 11 wins and 1 loss, 33 points and 70 goals for/7 against.  NE Pioneers, Lady Islanders, Junior Flyers and Hanover Wild teams played each other to determine the top two teams to advance to the finals on Sunday February 10th.

The Lady Islanders 12U Tier 1 played the NE Pioneers first and won the game 13-0 on Friday to begin the round robin play.  Later on Friday the team faced the Jr Flyers for the 6th time in the season.  The Lady Islanders 12U Tier 1 team faced down the Flyers in a 3-0 win.  The final game in the round robin was played between the Hanover Wild and Lady Islanders.  Lady Islanders finished in 1st for the round robin play with a win over Hanover 8-2.

The championship game between the Lady Islanders 12U Tier 1 and Jr Flyers 12U saw competitive hockey with great goaltending on both ends.  The team capitalized on a great passing play by Chloe Obser and Ava Glab to enable Sarah Wagner to bury the puck late in the 1st period.  The team controlled the puck for the remainder of the game and with solid goal tending from Natalie Frey-Perusse kept the Junior Flyers from scoring for the remainder of the game.

Congraulations to the 12U players for another win - back to back championships!  Thank you to Coach Rob Hare and Coach Mark Dubeau for their coaching on the bench for this series of games.

February 1st-3rd, 2019, the Lady Islanders 12U Tier 1 team traveled to the Detroit Invitational Tournament to face top ranked 12U teams in the USA at Fraser Hockeyland.  Honeybaked  12U was the team’s first opponent with a final score of 5-0 on February 1st.  The afternoon brought a challenging opponent, Detroit Little Caesars 12U, and although the team battled back late in the game with two quick goals from Chloe Obser the Lady Islanders 12U lost 3-2.

The morning of Feb 2, the team played the Pittsburgh Penguins 12U and won 3-1.  Returning in the afternoon, the team faced the St Louis Lady Blues 12U.  Winning a tight game 2-1, the Lady Islanders were ranked 2nd going into the semi-finals round.

Sunday February 3rd, the team faced off against a determined Little Caesars 12U coached by Manon Rheaume (Olympic gold medalist Team Canada/first woman to play in NHL).  The Lady Islanders 12U hung on to the 2-1 lead in an exciting 2:30 minutes of the final period playing 4 on 6.  Their final opponent, Chicago Mission 12U, were ranked #1 in the country at the time of the tournament.  The teams battled back and forth until the 3rd period when Ava Glab took a penalty shot and pushed the Lady Islanders 12U Tier 1 ahead to a 1-0 lead.  The Chicago Mission 12U pulled their goalie in the waning minutes of the game but despite an extra attacker, the team held on to win the Detroit Invitational 12U Tier 1 age bracket.

Congratulations to Chloe Obser for Points Leader and Assists, Ava Glab for Points per Game, Sarah Wagner for Goals and Natalie Frey-Perusse for Wins (Goalie) in the 12U age bracket.  The Lady Islanders 12U Tier 1 had the most points and most wins for the 12U bracket.

The Lady Islanders 12U Tier 1 team should be recognized and congratulated for their hard work on & off the ice.  Congratulations to Coach Rob Hare and Coach Mark Dubeau for their efforts in preparing the team and coaching on the bench during the weekend.  Thank you to the parents for their support this weekend to allow the players to attend a great event put on by Legacy Hockey at the Detroit Invitational Tournament.

Head coach Ashley Wade’s foundation was developed to help children all year long by creating care packages for them whether they are in the hospital or at home.  These holiday packages filled with newly donated movies, blankets and treats will undoubtedly bring smiles to many faces this holiday season.

November 2nd and 3rd, the 12U Tier 1 Lady Islanders team participated in Fire on Ice in upstate NY- the largest girls tournament in the country.

The team played a strong first game against the Cleveland Lady Barrons winning 3-0.  The second game of the tournament 12U Tier 1 played against the Nepean Wildcats who are ranked #2 in Canada in the 12U Tier 1 age bracket.  The team battled hard and although losing 1-3 managed to score on a goalie who has only let in 2 goals so far this season.  On Saturday the first game against the Stoney Creek Sabres, ranked #1 in Canada, came down to an overtime shootout which the Lady Islanders won in a final 2-1.  Wrapping up on Saturday at the tournament the team took on Assabet Valley (#3 in USA).  The game ended in a tie and the Lady Islanders lost in a 6 round shootout 1-2.

Despite not advancing to the semi-finals, the team had a successful 2-2 record in a very competitive bracket against top level teams in both Canada and the USA and look forward to returning next year’s Fire on Ice tournament.
